20/20 Seeing Perfection

So I’ve been watching some of the Olympics this past week. Like the typical nerd that I am, one of the coolest things I found was during the post-victory interview of Judo wrestler Kayla Harrison. Despite the fact that it was her first Olympic gold metal, and the U.S.A.’s first gold metal in the sport, her coach said that she had been there 1000 times before. Apparently She had this very disciplined habit of visualizing herself in that match. One of the keys to her success was that she had seen her self victorious long before the Olympic Finals. Incredible.

This is something I’ve been trying to do lately. I have to visualize the end. At first it started as an opportunity to just encourage myself. When I realized that I have a serious taste for the extraordinary and that nothing else would be able to satisfy my appetite …visualizing became a key step towards my goals. Obviously, visualizing is just the beginning and to see dreams become reality is the essential idea. So  what I’ve been doing is blocking off different 5 minute periods each day. Stepping away from everything else, just to see it, to see me in it and to see me doing it.

You know what, when it happens I’m going to be looking really cooool and calm. Because like Kayla I’ll have been there 1000 times before.

How about you? What are you in the habit of seeing? Seeing yourself victorious or seeing yourself broken.
